This course will enable participants to acquire a basic understanding of how to set up a DP system
Provide participants with basic understanding of dynamic positioning and the advantages and limitations that DP control of vessels offers.
Duration of the training course
COURSE DURATION is 4 days, 30 hrs in total, as follows: Day1=8 hrs, Day 2=8 hrs, Day 3=7 hrs, Day 4=7 hrs.
The training is based on the program outlined by the Nautical Institute Scheme of Training. Training is a mix of theoretical sessions and practical exercises on Kongsberg DP stand-alone simulators. All training is conducted as classroom training
In order to be awarded a certificate of completion for the Induction course the trainee must pass an online assessment at the training centre.
To be assigned on DP Basic training course, participant should present:
1. Certificate of Competency
2. Seaman Book
4. National ID
5. A recent picture, 3/4 size.

During the course each participant will have access to a DP tutor operator station with generic DP software. Practical training takes place in a simulated full navigation bridge comprising radar, conning and ECDIS consoles, as well as 3 DP control consoles (master, slave and conning).
